Albert A. "Jake" Griggs, 85, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 9, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Allen Norris, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Griggs was born in Mount Pleasant. He was a farmer in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Muleshoe. He was a member of Valley De Oro Baptist Church. He married Nola Newman in 1932 at Altus, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Wanda Shepard of Amarillo; two sons, Jimmy Lynn Griggs and Arlen Dale Griggs, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Patty Rogers of Vernon and Althea Griggs of California; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4504 Princeton.
