Bio

Eula "Faye" Anderson, 76, of Grand Island, formerly of Broken Bow, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Broken Bow Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Friesen will officiate Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Anselmo to Charles and Agnes (Stithem) Pettis. Survivors include her daughters, Connie White of Lincoln and Karen Derr of Sutton, and a sister, Burnice Zierlein of North Platte. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Julie White of Lincoln, Andy and his wife, Kim Derr, of Friend, and Anna Lewis of Sutton; great-grandchildren, Jordan of Lincoln, Nathan and Breauna of Friend and Riley, Kaylee, Elizabeth and Sophia of Sutton. Faye was married to Elver Wayne "Bum" Anderson on Oct. 31, 1953, at Broken Bow. They had two daughters, Connie Kay and Karen Sue. The family lived in various places throughout the years, eventually settling in Broken Bow, where the girls graduated. Faye and Bum then moved to take other jobs before finally retiring to Broken Bow from McCook. Mr. Anderson died in 2005. After Bum passed away, Faye moved to Grand Island, living at the Chrysalis Lutheran Homes apartments. There she made many good friends and joined all of the activities she could. Faye was a good wife and mother and thought the world of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was interested in everything that was happening in their lives and gave them encouragement. Faye was a kind and caring person and tried to find the best in everyone. She loved to dance and to be places there was music. Faye played the piano, sometimes accompanying her dad and even going to Washington, D.C., to play with him at the Smithsonian during the bicentennial. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Kristi Sue White; son-in-law, Dennis White; and sisters, Freida Pettis, Wilma Jean Mason and Darline Daily.
