Bio

Christine (Chris) F. Michalka Karnowski, 84, of Alcoa passed away on July 17, 2014. She was born in Cameron, Texas, was the valedictorian at Yoe High School and achieved her RN degree from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Houston, Texas, in 1951. While attending St. Joseph's, she was a member of The Pareettes fencing team. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where she was the organist and choir director for 42 years. She was a member of the Council of Catholic women since 1953. She was preceded in death by parents Frank Alois and Marie Kunz Michalka and seven siblings. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 61 years F. G. Karnowski; sons and daughters-in-law Frank and Cindy Karnowski, Jerome and Robin Karnowski, Thomas and Dana Karnowski; Eric Karnowski and Mark Saperstein; daughters and sons-in-law Pamela and Lawrence Bryson, Cynthia and Mike Stuart, Becky and David Weaver, Jenifer and Bob Smith, Kristina and Lee Hill, and Mary and Robert Cooper; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a loving, giving person who always put family first. She will be missed tremendously by her family and many friends. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home followed by a Prayer service and Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, with Father William McKenzie and Father William McNeeley officiating. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima Building Fund.
