In the 1940 Wichita census, Donald Dean appears in the Gooch household listed as Donald Dean Cooper, nephew of John and Viola (Smith) Gooch born in Colorado. He is also listed in the household of Charles and Mary (Smith) Cooper as their son, living in Los Angeles County, California, born in Colorado. His SSDI Application lists his parents as John and Viola. The other odd thing is both Mary (Smith) Cooper Sanders obituary lists Donald Gooch as one of her six sons and Viola (Smith) Gooch also lists him as a son.
