Adrian L. Rerucha, 81, of Grand Island, died peacefully Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. Father Louis Sellam will be officiating. Interment will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Adrian was born May 14, 1933 in Staplehurst, Nebraska to Leonard and Georgia (Bartunek) Rerucha. He grew up in David City, Nebraska and graduated from David City High School in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953, and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Sypal on May 6, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. The couple moved to Atkinson, Nebraska where they farmed until 1966. Adrian put up the first self propelled sprinklers in Nebraska in April of 1957. In 1976, he started at Green Line Equipment where he was the Parts Manager. Adrian retired from Green Line Equipment after 36 years in 2012. Adrian and Charlotte moved to Grand Island in 1978. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Lone Tree American Legion Club in Central City. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte of Grand Island; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Todd Bengtson of York; son, Chris Rerucha of Doniphan; grandchildren, Andrea Naber and her husband, Kurt, John Bengtson and his wife, Emily; great-granddaughter, Brooke Bengtson of York; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Virginia Rerucha of David City, Lynos Rerucha of Grand Island; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Allen Halouska of Grand Island, Marge and Greg Mysenburg of David City, Doris and Allen Jensen of Lincoln, Connie and Tom Wildermuth of Norfolk; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Alex Cermak of Hastings, Jeanette and LaVern Fiala of Kearney, Joe Sypal, Jr. of Bellevue, Helen Koterba of Bellevue, Lyle Sypal of Bellevue; and numerous nieces and nephews. Adrian was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Georgia Rerucha.
