Bio
Stanley Erwin Vrla was born on February 20, 1928 in Dallas, Texas. He was a charter member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Stanley was a member of the Knights of Columbus 799 and a 4th degree member of 1087, member of SPJST 130, KJT III, Elks Lodge #71, Blasmusik Texas, Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra, and many polka bands throughout the years. He was a former member of the Fightin' Aggie Band, MOAA and FRA, attended N.T.A.C (UTA), USNR (retired after 33 years.) Stanley worked at Central Model Ironcraft Studio in 1950, and continued to work after retirement. His son, Kenneth took over the family business in 1991. Stanley married Martha Brown in 1950 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dallas, Texas, had 4 four children, Teresa, Kenneth, Steven and John. His son Steven, his father and mother Joe and Helen Vrla, sisters Rose and Helen preceded him in death. Stanley was a very devoted husband and dearly loved man. His hobbies included antique clock repairs, travel, and Czech dancing. Stanley is survived by wife Martha of 63 years, 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Tueday, July 8, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 AM, Wednesday, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Very Rev. John Libone, celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
