Bio

Mary died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Mary was born May 16, 1924 to Benjamin H. and Katherine L. (Steiner) Homan in Butler County, Nebraska. She attended elementary school and graduated from Marietta High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Howard J. Ebel on January 13, 1949 at Bellwood and to this union two children were born. She was united in marriage to Clarence H. Schupbach on May 10, 1955 at Bellwood. Mary was a homemaker for her family and later worked at several jobs. She retired from Becton Dickinson in Columbus. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, playing cards, and gathering with family and friends for birthday and holiday celebrations. She was a longtime member of St. Isidore Parish and the Christian Mothers. She is survived by a daughter; Janet (Greg) Stevens of Frederick, Maryland; five grandchildren: Sarah (Ryan) Brazell of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, Michael Stevens of Frederick, Maryland, Adam Hall of Lincoln, Carrie Hall of Alexandria, Virginia, and Courtney (Chris) Schreiner of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren: Elijah, Anastasia, and Faith Schreiner; Harper and Riley Brazell; Sisters-in law: Rita Homan of David City, Marie Homan of Omaha, and Margie Coffin of Columbus; Son-in-law: Jerry (Bonnie) Hall of Lincoln, as well as many nephew and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Howard J. Ebel; husband: Clarence H. Schupbach; daughter: Shirley J. Hall; brothers: Richard, Arthur, Benjamin, John and George Homan; sisters: Esther Miller, Edna Oppliger, and Delores Weber. Memorials may be directed to the St. Isidore's Stained Glass Fund
