Bio

ROSE M. YOUNG Rose Marie Mikeska Young, 71, of Temple, was born March 17, 1943, in Bay City, TX, to Raymond Charles Mikeska and Bennie Jean Bartek. She passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Scott and White Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be held Tuesday, July 1st, 2:00 p.m. at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, TX with Rev. Denise Mikeska of Seaton Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Seaton Cemetery in Seaton. Visitation will be held Monday, June 30th, from 6-8 p.m. at Harper Talasek. Wanting to be close to their Czech relatives, her parents moved to Temple, where Rose graduated from Temple High School. During her time of being a homemaker, her favorite things included her family, friends, shopping, cooking for family gatherings, crafts, phone conversations, and traveling. Many summer trips were taken to the beach at South Padre Island, which she dearly loved. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Rose was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Pauline Young. Survivors include her children, Pamela Farlow and Ira Young, III; a brother, R.C. Joe Mikeska, Jr.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to Seaton Brethren Church, 12561 State Highway 53, Temple, TX 76501, or charity of your choice.
