Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Tuesday, January 2, 1973 ORD -- Mrs. Emma Neilsen, 72, of Ord, died at her home Sunday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ord Bethany Lutheran Church with pastor Herbert Schauer officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Mrs. Neilsen was born April 16, 1900, in Valley county, the daughter of Ferdinand and Bertha Miller Vergin. She graduated from Ord High School then taught school in Valley County for seven years. She married Jens Neilsen May 26, 1923 at Ord and they made their home on a farm near Ord until they retired in 1963. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and served as Board secretary for several years. She was a member of the church Ladies Aid Society and the Royal Kensington Club. She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Williams and Mrs. Anna Kirby both of Ord and two brothers, Warner and Elmer both of Ord.
