Bio
Darlene Herrington, 73, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Chester Beavers officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Darlene was born July 23, 1940, in Brownfield to Charles Preston and Melba Christine Adams. She attended Palo Duro High School and was of the Protestant faith. She moved to Amarillo at age 4. She was a nurse's aid, working at St. Anthony's Hospital in labor and delivery, which was her favorite. She also worked for nursing homes as well. Her hobbies included cross-stitch, needlepoint and reading. She was a caring and kind person who will be missed. She was preceded in death by a daughter, April Michelle Malone. Survivors include a daughter, Gina Rogers of Amarillo; a son, Timothy Fristoe of Denver; two sisters, Melba Waddell and husband John of Amarillo and Yvonne Gibson of Cortez, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jason, Jamie and Jessica; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Advo Companies Inc. or a favorite charity.
