William Cordell Hickman, 73, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Ennis, Texas, in the presence of his loving family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis, with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. William Cordell was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Wendell and Margaret (Hajek) Hickman. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1959. On May 4, 1963, Cordell married Josephine Lanicek. They originally made their home in Irving, Texas, and moved to Ennis in 1969. He worked for Wyatt's Cafeteria, Southern Pacific Railroad, and Sunbelt Brick Company. Cordell was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and past president of the St. John's Booster Club. Survivors include his wife, Josephine; sons, Lance Hickman and Patrick Hickman; daughter, Michele Barnett and her husband, Rick Threet; grandchild, Alex Barnett; brothers, Winston Hickman and his wife, Elizabeth, and Michael Hickman and his wife, Kari; many other relatives and numerous friends.
