Bio

Ellen Irene (Parham) Murphy was the daughter of Dr. Joe and Annie (Vaughn) Parham. At age 22, she married Samuel D. Murphy. During their seven years of marriage, they had two children. One died within two months. Both Sam and Irene died of typhoid fever within three months of each other. Sam and Ellen had two sons, Sam Duff Murphy and Homer Wilson Murphy. Homer wilson died soon after his birth. When little Duff's was young, both father and mother were stricken with typhoid fever which terminated their lives in three months of each other, leaving Duff in care of grandmother Parham. However, he died within three years. All are buried at Vaughn Cemetery. Children of Sam D. and Ellen (Parham) Murphy: 1. Homer Wilson Murphy (1892-1892) 2. Sam Duff Murphy (1896-1901)
