Thanks to contributor #47697610; "Marie" Hickenbottom CALLAWAY — Luella M. "Marie" Hickenbottom, 68, of Callaway died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Mrs. Hickenbottom was cremated. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Callaway. The Rev. Al Seadore will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation or Down's syndrome research. Timm-Reynolds Funeral Home in Callaway is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hickenbottom was born on Oct. 8, 1931, at Lincoln to Milford E. and Velda M. (Phillips) Cadwallader. As a toddler, she moved with her family to Salt Lake City. She attended school at Baker City, Ore., and graduated from high school in Moscow, Idaho, in 1949. She attended Idaho State University at Pocatello and then moved to Denver, where she worked as a nurse in a hospital. She married Leslie "Bud" Hickenbottom on Sept. 1, 1956, in Denver. They moved to Callaway in February 1959. She was a housewife until 1969, when she went to work at Becton-Dickinson in Broken Bow. She worked at Jerry's Steakhouse, Callaway Hospital and Right Drug until 1986, when they opened Bud and Marie's Steakhouse in Callaway. They ran the steakhouse until April 1994, when they retired. She enjoyed camping, crafts, gardening and cooking. She enjoyed helping her husband on the farm, driving the tractor, hauling grain in a farm truck and helping out with other chores. She had a special dog, Kooter. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dean of Hermiston, Ore., and Mike of Cozad; three daughters, Micki (Mrs. Rene) Twohig of Gothenburg, Teresa (Mrs. Joe) Schierbeek of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cheryl (Mrs. Lee) Nielsen of Wood River; 13 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter and a brother.
