Bio

Gertrude "Trudy" Draeger, 89, of Georgetown, formerly of Walburg, died on Saturday, January 1, 1916, in Walburg to Ben P. and Martha (Doering) Kurio. She married Bennie Draeger on October 10, 1937, in Walburg. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, president of the Afternoon Ladies Aid Ministry, Opitmrs, a member of the Lutheran Women's League and church choir, and chairwomen of the Country Store for Wurstbraten for 31 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Martha Kurio, husband Bennie Draeger, brother Ben W. Kurio, sister Edna Richter, and an infant brother Milton. Survivors include sons, James Draeger and wife Penny and Ron Draeger and wife Kim of Georgetown; daughter, Barbara Ischy and husband Steve of Georgetown; grandchildren, David Draeger and wife Amy, Donnie Draeger and wife Rachel, Teri Hargis and husband John, Deborah Draeger and Don Ischy; great-grandchild, Dylan Draeger, son of David and Amy Draeger; and brother, Gilbert Kurio of Walburg. Pallbearers were David Draeger, Donnie Draeger, John Hargis, Don Paul Ischy, David Kurio, Sam Kurio, Bobby Jackson and Dwayne Mirtsching. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Morgan, Leona Kokel, Alvina Kasper, Eric Domel, Margaret Lehmann, Charles Herbert, Carolyn Fuchs, Marie Ray and Ella Moore. Visitation was held on Sunday, January 22, at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Davenport officiating. Burial followed at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
