Bio

David Gene Morris, 81, of Houston Texas, passed away June 7, 2014. Born in Wharton, Texas on August 14, 1932, Dave was the only child of Vera Virginia Brown and Greydon Edward Morris. He spent his early years in Louise, TX and Ville Platte, LA, moving to Houston while still in elementary school, where he met the prettiest girl he'd ever seen, Paula Elizabeth Cargill, also an only child. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1951 and later attended the University of Houston. Dave and Paula married June 15, 1957. They had three daughters: Lynn Ann, Tracy Lee and Donna Kay (all good southern names). After 30 years of working at Equifax (formerly Retail Credit Company), Dave retired in 1990 and he and Paula began taking lengthy driving vacations in the continental U.S., even crossing the border to the north occasionally. His family has the good fortune of being able to relive those trips with his narration on hundreds (thousands?) of hours of video recordings. As a member of the 7366th Radar Evaluation ECM Squadron stationed in Germany 1955-1956, Dave was happy to reunite with his Air Force buddies in 1997, reestablishing old and forming new friendships. More recently, he was fond of tipping a glass of chardonnay while sending funny emails and hanging out next to Paula. Dave is survived by his wife, Paula and by his daughters, Lynn Morris and husband Ralph Miller and their 3 children; Tracy Morris and her son Toby; and Donna Morris and partner Austin Thomerson, along with a number of 4-legged grandchildren. He is also survived by his cousins Gladys Joyet and Sethan Chastain. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at American Heritage Funeral Home,10701 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, 281-445-0050. Funeral services will then start at 10:15 AM with interment to follow in Houston National Cemetery.
