Bio
Max Russ went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Temple, Texas at the age of 88 years. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 4, 1920 to Clifford Russ, Sr. and Bertha Siefert Russ. Mr. Russ was a graduate of Johnson City High School and Draughns Business School. He retired as a M/Sgt. from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service including service in World War II where he flew 25 missions in a B17. Following his military career he was employed as a bookkeeper for International Airal Mapping Company. He was also a member of the VFW, Herman Sons Lodge, and charter member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kirby where he served as the secretary and treasurer. His other civic duties included delivering Meals on Wheels for senior citizens, Kirby volunteer Fire Dept, and secretary for the City of Kirby. His hobbies included fishing and bowling. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Dorothy Russ of Temple, brother Clifford Russ, Jr., of Kirby, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. SERVICES Visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 9:30 A.M. for The Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kirby, Texas with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church or St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple, Texas.
