Lillian Rose Mattke, 88, of Grand Island died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Tiffany Square Care Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo's Parish Community. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church with a Catholic Daughter's Rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Central Catholic Foundation. Mrs. Mattke was born July 14, 1912, in rural Valley County to James and Rose (Hosek) Hejsek. She attended Ord High School and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1930. She moved to Grand Island and attended St. Francis School of Nursing. She received her registered nurse degree in 1933. She married Arthur O. Mattke on Feb. 12, 1934, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island. Mr. Mattke died on Nov. 22, 1975. Mrs. Mattke was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and was a charter member of St. Leo's Parish Community. She was also a charter member of the Catholic Daughter's of Court Ave Marie. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary's and St. Leo's She enjoyed traveling, gardening and her flowers. Survivors include two sons, Robert and Thomas both of Grand Island; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Edwin.
