Dallas Morning News; Sept 13, 1980 Zebbie L. Howell, Jr., 83, of Dallas, died Thursday in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas after a short illness. He was the son of Z. L. and Laura Middleton Howell. He was reared in Ellis and Navarro Counties and was graduated from Trinity University in 1917. Married Miss Tahlie Davis of Ennis on April 8, 1924. Mr. Howell was a member of the Lovers Lane Methodist Church, Dallas, a 32nd degree mason at the Karem Temple, Waco, the Dallas Athletic Club and was a charter member of the Southwest Football Officials Assoc. Surviving him are his wife; son, Charles W. Howell, Fort Worth; 3 grandchildren; brothers, Rev. William E. Howell and Robert L. Howell, Dallas; sisters, Mrs. Nona Moser, Mrs. A. Y. Edwards, Mrs. Fannye Bradford, Miss Lois Howell, all of Dalls; Mrs. Cleo Wooten, Cleburne; Mrs. Tab McNatt, Stanton, TX; several nieces and nephews. Services Saturday in Keever Funeral Chapel in Ennis, TX, with Rev. William E. Howell, Associate Pastor of the Tyler Street United Methodist Church, Dallas, and Rev. Barton Smith, Pastor of Key Unitec Methodist Church, Sherman, TX, officiating. Interment will be in the Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis, TX.
