The Webster Signal Minden, La 19 Nov. 1897 Death of S.B. Miller Mr. Simon Burton Miller, an old and respected citizen of this town died at his home here last Saturday evening, November 13th, 1897, aged 68 years. The deceased had been in failing health for several months and gradually sank to a serene and peaceful close of his long and active life. The interment took place at the Minden cemetery Sunday evening at 4 o'clock,and the remains were followed to their final resting place by the sorrowing relatives and a large concourse of sympathizing friends, Rev. A.D. McVey conducting the funeral services. The deceased was a man of indomitable energy and during his life time had, by his sound judgment and close application to business, become possessed of considerable means. He was a man of strict integrity, kindhearted and always tried to live at peace with his fellowman. He was devoted to his family and the tenderness and solicitude which he ever manifested toward his aged wife, who had shared his joys and sorrows since September 3rd, 1848, nearly half a century, was particularly noticeable. The Signal records his passing away with sincere regret and tenders its most profound sympathy in the lone and heart broken wife and the other members of the bereaved family.
