Bernice W. Seier, 85, of Petersburg, NE, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Petersburg, NE with Fr. Jerel Scholl, grandson of Bernice, and Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE, resuming at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE with an 8:00 p.m. Wake Service. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Bernice Wilhelmina Seier, daughter of Bernard and Christina (Niewohner) Temme, was born September 16, 1928 at Petersburg, NE. She attended school at St. John the Baptist in Petersburg and later received her GED. Bernice was united in marriage to Ignatius Seier on January 20, 1948 at St. John’s in Petersburg. They made their home east of Petersburg, then west of town, until moving into Petersburg in 1993. Over the years, Bernice worked raising their family and was also employed at the Boone County Hospital as a nurse’s aide and Petersburg Public School as a cook. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John’s Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and volunteered for the “Make A Wish” Foundation. She loved square dancing, reading, quilting and belonged to square dance clubs and various card clubs. Bernice is survived by her 4 children: Dianne Scholl and husband LaVern of Petersburg, NE; Gloria Seier of Omaha, NE; Michael J. Seier and wife Bev of Neligh, NE; David Seier and wife Kate of Albion, NE; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Ceal Ausdemore of Neola, IA; Leona Seier of Albion, NE; Lois Zegers of Petersburg, NE; a brother: Richard Temme and wife Sylvia of Paramount, CA; a special friend Bernard Wirges of Petersburg, NE; 5 sisters-in-law: Sr. Josephine Seier of Greenfield, WI; Betty Schmitz and Rosemary Seier of Albion, NE; Joyce Temme of Petersburg, NE; and Janet Burer of Hastings, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and brother-in-law Adeline and Cort Tisher; 2 brothers: Joe Temme, Sr. and Bernard Temme, Jr.; 5 brothers-in-law: George Schmitz, Ambrose Ausdemore, Jim Zegers, Bernard Seier and Jerome Seier; sister-in-law Sr. Marie Seier; 2 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Fran and Bob Taubenheim and Germaine and LaVern Ketteler.
