Glendy Rites Held at Oconto Funeral services were held Monday. Dec. 5 at the Oconto E.U.B. church for Mabel Stockham Glendy, 59, who died at a Broken Bow Hospital Dec. 1 the Rev. Keith L. Griffith, pastor of the church. officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Florice Hendricksen and Mrs. Charlotte Miller with Mrs. Velda Wiley at the piano. Pallbearers were Carroll Hill, Charles Devine, Mick Wilcox, Ted Biram, Don Stack and Ray Trayer. Burial was in the Oconto Cemetery with the Schneringer-Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Glendy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Stockham, was born Feb. 28, 1896, at Weeping Water, NE.. She lived with her parents and family in Cass county until 1910 when they moved to a farm on the South Loup near Oconto. She was married Feb. 4, 1919, to Leonard O. Glendy and moved to a farm near her parent's home where she lived until her death. Two sons, William L. and Eldon D. Glendy, and one daughter, Carol Wackerla, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Glendy. Mrs. Glendy was a member of W.S.B. club and took an active interest in the affairs of her community. Her father, mother and one sister, Mrs. Lottie Helmick, preceded her in death. Besides her immediate family, she is survived by four grandsons, Jerry and Gary Glendy and Roger and Ronald Wackerla; four brothers, Earl, Ray and Clarence Stockham of Oconto, and Charlie of New Plymouth, Idaho; three sisters, Alice Spry, Stella Kleiber and Ola Overgard, all of Oconto, and a number of nieces and nephews. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral services for Mrs. Glendy were Mr. and Mrs. Les Smithhart Jr. and Scott and Harold Helmick of Ottumwa, IA.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Glendy of Crawford; Mrs. Lynn Fry of Alliance; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Overgard, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Baller, Mrs. Lela Glendy, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brown and son and Miss Minnie Hothem of Broken Bow; Mr. and Mrs. Orval Oxford of Ansley; Mr. and Mar. Wilbur Brink and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pflaster of Cozad; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Martin Jr. of Lexington; Mr. and Frank Wackerla of Smithfield and Mr. and Mrs. Emery Stockham of Redfern.
