Published May 23, 2014. Compliments of Benton County Funeral Home, Rogers, AR. Richard Lee Hopper passed away on the night of May 20th, 2014 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma due to natural causes. He was 75 and was comforted by his wife Georgina. Richard was born January 26th, 1939 to Richard and Emily Hopper in Galveston, Texas. He went on to earn a degree in Economics at Lamar University and soon after went to work for Aetna Insurance. When working in the Washington DC area he met his future wife Claire, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. They had 3 children together – Richard, Christopher, and Christina – and one grandchild, all of whom survived them except for Christopher, who passed in 2000. Richard worked for USAA for many years in San Antonio, Texas where he raised his family until retirement. He and Claire then spent many years in Rogers, Arkansas involved with the community and the conservative groups they both loved so much. Upon Claire's passing in January of 2010, Richard found solace in a Catholic support group for widows and widowers. It was there he would meet his future wife, Georgina. They were married on June 4th, 2011. He would often say how lucky he was to have been able to spend time with two such wonderful women. Richard was a kind and generous man with a jovial sense of humor. He was passionate about working with his hands, animals, and his family. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00; Friday, May 23 at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th Street, Rogers, Arkansas. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Saturday at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Rogers, Arkansas. Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
