KRAKOW -- Edward C. Brandenburger, 89, of Krakow (rural Genoa), passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Krakow, Rev. William D. L'Heureux, Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. all at the church. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Edward was born September 25, 1924, to Frank and Clara (Duester) Brandenburger in Silver Creek. He attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. At the age of 14, he began his love of farming that would last for 78 years as he farmed in the Silver Creek and Genoa area. He ran a Grade A dairy farm and was a devout cattle rancher. He married Beverly Merrill, and to this union, nine children were born. Ed was a Fontanelle Seed Corn Dealer, and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he served on the church council. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, playing cards, bird watching, going to rodeos, polka dancing and most of all being a farmer. Ed is survived by six daughters, Patricia (Doug) Cuddeford of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Monica (Jay) Wright of Genoa, Marcia (Richard) Kula of St. Edward, Julie (Philip) Schornack of Columbus, Deborah VanDam of Genoa, Joan (James) Reeg of Genoa, three sons, Thomas (Millie) Brandenburger of Genoa, Dave Brandenburger of Genoa and Mike Brandenburger of Genoa; brothers: Ray (Charlotte) Brandenburger of Morrison, Colorado; Lawrence (Marjorie) Brandenburger of Silver Creek; sister, Genevieve Borowiak of Grand Island, 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a special pet and best friend, PaPa. He was preceded in death by his parents, special friend Genny Miller, sister Laura Tarnick, infant brother and four infant grandchildren. Memorials are suggested "In Care of the Family."
