Sarah Elizabeth (Bessie) Wheeler was born to Peter Carr Wheeler (1818-1865) and Judah Powell Loftis (1826-1885) in Vernon, Lamar, Alabama. She married James Young Elliott in Wise County and died before her family moved to Bomarton in Baylor County, Texas.
