Bio

Marcy M. Svoboda, of David City, Nebraska died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. Marcy was born on April 24, 1926 on the farm near Loma, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary (Houdek) Petrzilka. Marcy graduated from David City High School in 1944 and went on to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught for several years. Marcy married Rudy A. Svoboda on June 5, 1946 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Loma, Nebraska. Four children were born to this union. She later went to work at St. Joseph's Villa in laundry and housekeeping and eventually became a certified nursing assistant. She later went to work in the Butler County Hospital in housekeeping and then in Central Supply. She also helped out running detassling crews. Marcy was a member of St. Mary's Church, the PCCW, Catholic Daughters of America, and maintained a holy hour for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies and was the current President of the David City Museum. She enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time with her family. Marcy was preceded in death by: parents; grandson, Craig Broeker and sister, Adeline Geiger. Funeral Mass was at 12:30 PM, May 17, 2014, St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City, Nebraska. Burial was in St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery, Loma, Nebraska, on May 17, 2014.
