Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent July 1996 Maximillian L. "Max" Tylkowski Jr., 69, of Grand Island died Tuesday, July 16, 1996, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. (Other funeral arrangements omitted here) Mr. Tylkowski was born on June 1, 1927, at Farwell to Maximillian and Anna (Kezior) Tylkowski. He graduated from Farwell High School. He married Laura Lonowski on Sept. 18, 1952, in Loup City. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He worked for Super Sweet Feeds as a truck driver for 23 years. He retired in 1981. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Eagles and the Platt-Duetsche. Survivors include five sons, Larry, Mark and Leo, all of Grand Island, Roger of Tulsa, Okla., and Mike of Ansley; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren; a sister, Sabine Martin of Humboldt, Iowa; one brother, Jim Tylkowski of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and a special friend, Donna Ullman. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Brouwer, Clara Tylkowski and Sylvia Webster, and one stepgrandchild.
