Alan Dale Anderson, 74, of Ord passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Valley County Health System in Ord. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Ord. Pastor Kyle Campise will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Alan Dale was born June 20, 1939, at Ord, Nebraska to Ivan V. and Elda L. (Long) Anderson. He was raised in Ord where he received his education and graduated from Ord High School in 1957. In January of 1964, Alan graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney. He began his teaching career at Campbell, NE where he met Sherri Meyer. On May 27, 1967, Alan was united in marriage to Sherri Meyer at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Campbell. Alan continued his teaching career at Neligh, Bartlett and Ord where he taught Jr. and Sr. High Math, Science and Aerospace Science. In 1972, the couple settled in Ord. Alan taught school until 1974, when he purchased D.E. Armstrong Insurance Agency which became Alan Dale Insurance Agency. Alan owned and operated Alan Dale Insurance Agency from 1974, until his passing. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Plymouth Club and Experiment Aircraft Association. Alan was an avid reader; he enjoyed kites, airplanes, cars and pheasant hunting. Alan's love for God was evident by his many acts of kindness, mentoring and tutoring. He loved teaching his boys and other children and was mentor to many young men. He is survived by his wife, Sherri of Ord; two sons, Jerrod Paul Anderson of Ord and Nathan Samuel Anderson of Brooklyn, NY; one brother and sister-in-law, Galen and Barbara Anderson of Gilbert, AZ; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Robert Potty of Overland Park, KS, Cheryl and Carlton Clark of Elwood, NE and Zelda and Stephen Shoemaker of Grand Island, NE; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
