"Funeral services for the late Augustus Dougherty, who died at his home Thursday, will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from Crosby Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Runyon officiating. "Mr. Dougherty was born at Glasgow, Kentucky, February 1, 1961 and was 82 years old. His early life was spent in Nashville, Tennessee, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. but he had been a resident of Carson City since 1910. For a number of years he wrote for newspapers and magazines, and had been at the Burlington Shoe Store, also in the furnishing store of the late William Muller, and in the law office of the late J. Poujade. "He was a member of the Baptist church in the south and of the board of Carson City trustees. "Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elva T. Dougherty, one brother, D. L. Dougherty, and a niece, Mrs. Emily Anchors of Birmingham, Alabama, and a nephew, Col. Clarence A. Dougherty with the United States army, stationed at Dallas, Texas." - Nevada State Journal, August 8, 1943
