Bio

Alvina Hulda Kelm Kasper of Walburg, Texas was born September 16, 1912, to Emil and Martha Andres Kelm. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion, and attended Zion Lutheran School for elementary education, and Walburg Public School, completing 8th Grade. She married Norbert Mathew Kasper on November 24, 1932 at Zion, they were married 68 years until his death on June 6, 2000. To this union, 2 sons were born: Jon Emil Kasper and Ronald Wayne Kasper. Alvina was a woman of strong faith, very active at Zion Lutheran Church and School. She was in The Walther League (youth group) in the 1930's, a choir member for many years (she loved to sing), a charter member in the Ladies Aid (LWML). She and Norbert helped start the Wurstbraten at Zion, (and it's still growing)! Alvina was the oldest member at Zion, (baptized, confirmed and married), and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, have continued this tradition at Zion for over 100 years. She was on the building committee to start The Walburg Community Center. During her years, she helped Norbert in the tavern business, farm their land, she was an awesome seamstress and cook. She loved to garden and plant flowers, travel, fish, play "42", and attend the "Kelm" 1st cousin annual reunion at the lake. Preceding Alvina in death was her husband, Norbert Kasper; her son, Ron Kasper; her parents; one brother, Bert Kelm; four sisters: Hattie Bethke, Amanda Jacob, Hilda Bleeke, Edna Kurio, and a brother and sister in infancy. Survivors are: son, Jon Kasper and wife Agnes; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Messick and husband Randal; grandchildren: Courtney Kasper, Shelli Kasper Haggard and husband Charles, Staci Kasper Whittenton, and Kris Kasper and wife Heather; great-grandchildren: Hallie and Nikolas Schiaffo, Kristin and Megan Stuewe, and Zachary Whittenton. Also, many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Request for Memorials: Zion Cemetery Fund, Dr. Ronald Kasper Foundation, and Concordia High School. The family wishes to thank Heartland Care Center and Hospice Austin for all their loving care.
