Thanks to contributor #47226369 Luverda Long BURWELL Luverda Lena Long, 85, of Burwell died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Burwell. The Rev. Mike Blatchley will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the church. Mrs. Long was born July 10, 1914, at Burwell to William and Mary (Davis) Freeman. She attended school in Garfield County. She married Omar Long on Sept. 8, 1936, in Or. They lived in Washington State for five years until moving back to Burwell to help her parents. They later moved back to Washington and ran a saw mill in Yakima. They returned to Burwell and then moved to Stapleton in the late 1940's. Mr. Long died on Dec. 21, 1955. In the spring of 1956 Mrs. Long moved back to Burwell. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the WMC. She worked as a homemaker, a nurses aid and other jobs. She was also active in the Burwell Senior Center. Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary (Mrs. Marcus) Pierson of Page and Verda (Mrs. Charlie) Thoene of Burwell; two sons, Fred of North Platte and Lloyd of Aberdeen, Wash.; two brothers, Ray Freeman of South Sioux City and Milo of North Platte; one sister, Esther (Mrs. Jim) Taylor of Amelia; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
