Clayton Edgar Cheever III, 87, of Austin, Texas passed away on Monday April 21, 2014 at Seton Medical Center - Williamson in Round Rock, Texas. He was born January 10, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Clayton II and Loretta Cheever. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1944. He was working for the United States Post Office when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1945. He served in the United States Army Air Forces and the United States Air Force for 27 years. His assignments included Texas, Germany and the Panama Canal Zone. He retired in 1972 from the Pentagon as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was awarded multiple Air Force Commendation Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal. After retirement from the military her returned to the United States Postal Service retiring in 1990. He was active in the Austin Retired Chiefs Society serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the organization. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, one son, one sister, one sister-in-law and one nephew. He was proceeded by his parents and daughter Marilyn Ann Cheever. Service and interment with full military honors were held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2 P.M.
