YORK — Delores "Dee" Mowrey, 82, of York died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at York. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in York, with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. that afternoon at West Lawn Cemetery, Grand Island. Metz Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. She was born July 5, 1931, in Burwell to Charles and Elizabeth (Eret) Gross. She grew up in Burwell, graduating with the class of 1950. Dee married Herbert Mowrey on Nov. 25, 1956, in Kearney. She enjoyed attending family events, trips to Branson, Mo., embroidering, dancing, and attending a lot of music fests. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. Survivors include her husband Herb; one son, Kirt and his friend, Tammy, of Lincoln; one daughter, Sheryl and husband, Mike Broadway, of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Autumn (Brian) Kwiatkowski, Travis, Jason, and Scott Mowrey, Brian and Amy Broadway; and eight great-grandchildren. Dee was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Kyle.
