Lana Jeane Baker Whiting 1942 - 2014 Early Life: Lana was born October 28, 1942, to Dennis Ashton Baker and Gale Walling Havens Baker in Alameda, California. Life's Work | Service | Interests: Lana married Ron Berneche and had two sons, Ronald and Benjamin Jay. They later divorced and she began to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. There she met, and later married, Melvin R. Whiting. They had two sons, Abraham Timothy and Jonathan Reese, as well as, one daughter, Deborah Melissa. Lana's life calling was genealogy; she loved to learn about her ancestors and researched them for over 40 years. She leaves behind a legacy of serving others, a love for her Father in Heaven, His Gospel, and a deep appreciation for nature and all God's creations. She considered the Bitterroot Valley to be as close to His temple as one could get. Lana Jeane Baker Whiting, of Stevensville, Montana, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 1, 2014. She was 71. Survived By: Her natural mother, Gale Havens; stepmother, May Baker; and her children: Ron (Valerie) Berneche, of Helper, Utah; Ben (Sonja) Berneche, of Provo, Utah; A. Tim (Shalene) Whiting, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; D. Melissa (John) Sparks, of Stevensville; and Jonathan Reese Whiting of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
