Bio
John Carl Kolinek, Jr., 69, of Waco, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. John Collier officiating. A private family burial will follow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. John was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Callie and John (Jake) C. Kolinek, Sr. He attended Waco schools, and in July, 1964, began a 30-year career with the Waco Tribune-Herald. On August 28, 1964, John married Carol Boedeker. He always had a love for anything outdoors, family, friends and all things encompassing grandchildren! The favorite family time was the annual trip to Hunt, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Carol; son, John (Trey) Kolinek III and wife, Jill; daughters, Jennifer Mashek and husband, Marc, and Melissa Hoekstra and husband, Jonathan; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kendall and Caroline Kolinek, and William and Harrison Hoekstra; sister, Carlene Dugger and husband, Connally; brother, Randy Kolinek and wife, Norma; nieces and a nephew, other relatives and many friends.
