Bio

Virginia Belle Lee, 88, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Garrison, Texas. She was born January 26, 1926, in the Cedar Bluff community south of Garrison to parents D.L. Hancock and Rosa Belle Peterson Hancock. She was a retired school teacher, a member of Garrison United Methodist Church, and a lifelong resident of the Garrison area. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband of almost 52 years, James Roby Lee; and by her brother, John D. Hancock. She is survived by son Michael Roby ("Mitch") Lee and wife Vionette Delgado Lee of McKinney, Texas, and by grandsons Michael Tanner Lee and Hughston Hancock Lee of Allen, Texas. Also by sisters Elizabeth Hancock of the Kingtown community southeast of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Betty Aiken and husband John of the Cedar Bluff community. Also by niece Angela Weems and husband Scott of the Cedar Bluff community, and nephews Darrell Hancock and wife Diana of Kingwood, Texas, and Danny Hancock and wife Glennette of Lonoke, Arkansas. And by great-nephews and -nieces Adam Martin Hancock of Houston, Texas, Andrew Martin Hancock and wife Michelle of Kettle Falls, Washington, Bonnie Renee Sedgebeer and husband Jay of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jonathon Tyler ("J.T.") Weems and Abby Danielle Weems of Garrison. She is also survived by a six great-great-nieces and -nephews and by a host of cousins and friends. Mrs. Lee's memorial service is set for 11 a.m., Monday, July 21 2014, at Garrison Funeral Home with Reverend Richard ("Rick") Anderson of Garrison United Methodist Church officiating. The service will be preceded by visitation for friends and relatives at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. After the service, lunch will be served in the fellowship hall of Garrison Methodist.
