Bio
Virginia Claire Boatright, age 95 of the Blue Creek Community died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at NHC Oakwood. Mrs. Boatright was a native of Lawrence County, and she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Susie Steele Clark. She was a homemaker and member of the Cornersville First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and her husband, Ralph Boatright. She is survived by two sons, Larry (Phyllis) Boatright of Lewisburg and Gary (Susie) Boatright of Cornersville. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mars Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Mars Hill Cemetery c/o of Thomas Whitsett, 3119 Pulaski, Hwy, Cornersville, TN 37047. Cornersville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. --- 1930 Census, taken 9 Apr 1930, has Thomas Steele, 72, farmer on a general farm, married at 24 to Olivia, 61, married at 18, living in 15th Civil District, Giles County, TN. They have a son James M, 22, farmer on a general farm. Also in the household is the Clark family: daughter Susie Clark, 36, widow; grandson Wilburn, 13; grandson Ray, 11; granddaughter Virginia, 9; and grandson Frank, 6. Tennessee Marriage Records have Ralph Boatwright and Virginia Clark married on 23 Dec 1936 in Giles County.
