OBITUARY Verna May Lovitt, daughter of Ira and Apha Lovitt was born March 6th, 1912 at Crab Orchard, Nebraska. She passed away at her home five miles north of Oconto on June 11th, 1933, at the age of 21 years, 3 months, and 5 days. She moved with her parents to Oconto in 1920. She was united in marriage to Clarence Stockham, November 14, 1929. To this union were born two daughters: Pearl LaVonne, three years old; and Shirley May, eight months old. She was a loving mother and a kind and helpful wife. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Clarence, two children, Pearl and Shirley; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lovitt; four sisters: Velma Benson, Verda, Viola, and Virginia; and three brothers: Lloyd, Lewis, and Leonard and a host of friends. Two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon with a prayer at the house. "Tell me, my secret soul Oh, tell me, Hope and Faith, Is there no resting-place? From sorrow, sin, and death? Is there no happy spot? Where mortals may be blest Where grief may find a balm And weariness a rest Faith, Hope and Love, best boons to mortals given Waved their bright wings, and whispered, Yes in heaven." Notes Verna death was related to a case of scarlet fever. Family states that she went out to run the chickens into the coup during a rainstorm. This caused a relapse of her illness.
