Bio

Francis Joseph Murphy was born Oct. 27, 1835 in County Roscommon. Francis immigrated to America after his father, a government surveyor was killed. Francis' mother whose maiden name was Morton wanted Francis to leave Ireland because she feared what might happen to him. Francis was married in 1863 in Port Jervis, NY to 17 year old Bridget Adelia McLaughlin, whose parents were from County Westmeath. Bridget's stepfather was Larkin. ********************* According to some: The story about Francis leaving Ireland is just that--a story. There is no factual evidence that this correct.
