Richard H. "Rich" Cuba, 79 December 5, 1934 ~ April 8, 2014 Richard H. Cuba was born in Nebraska to John and Helen (Swerczek) Cuba. "Cuba" was an Americanization of an older, Polish name, Czuba--several of Richard's aunts and uncles kept the older spelling. Richard's family were farmers, and in 1940, the US Census shows them living near Genoa, in Nance County, Nebraska. John Cuba, 41, head, farmer Helen Cuba, 31, wife Leonard Cuba, 13, son Genevieve Cuba, 11, daughter Evelyn Cuba, 9, daughter Richard Cuba, 5, son Helen Cuba, 2, daughter In 1954, Richard Cuba was fighting in Korea. He was a US Marine. When he came home to Nebraska, he married Jeanette (called Janet in Omaha City Directories), and worked for a living. In 1958, he took a job as a laborer for Armour's meat packing plant. He and Janet lived at 3311 Howard St. in Omaha. The next year, he was hired as an assembler for Vickers Manufacturing (hydraulic motors and pumps). Survived by wife Jeanette (Osentowski) Cuba; children and spouses Danette (Jeff) Lynch, Diana (Mike) Larsen, and David (Kalleen) Cuba; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Genevieve, Evelyn and Helen Visitation Friday, April 11th, after 5 pm with Vigil Service at 7 pm at Bethany Funeral Home, 8201 Harrison St.,La Vista, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 12th, 10 am St. Gerald Catholic Church, 96th & Q St, Omaha, Nebraska. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Military Honors by Papillion Amercian Legion Post 32 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Hospice House - The Josie Harper Residence.
