Mary Jane Mathews Burr Oak- Mary Jane Mathews, age 84 , of 398 Halfway Rd .,BurrOak, Mich., passed away Sunday March 23,2008, at home. She was born Jan7,1924, in Battle Creek , Mich., a daughter if the late Ezra and Ruth ( Strong ) Sanders . On April 13,1940, in Defiance, Ohio,she married David Fay Mathews , and he preceded her in death in 1995. Mary has been a resident of Burr Oak all but 20 years of her life, when she lived in the Parchment and Kalamazoo area . She had been employed by Freeman Manufacturing in Sturgis and Shakespeare's in Kalamazoo . She was a 20 year member of the New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church and a member of the Burr Oak Garage . Mary Jane enjoyed playing cards , Sunday chicken dinners , camping up north and traveling and hunting for Wal-Mart Stores ,having visited over 169stores around the country. Surviving are five children;Pete (Gerry) Mathews of Mendon , Ruth (Ron) Lilly of Bronson , Mary (Lloyd ) Tyler of Burr Oak , Ricky David Mathews and Fiancé Ginger Speicher of LaGrange ,Ind , and Dawn ( (Gerald) Selders of Benzonia, Mich; 17 grandchildren ; 34 great grandchildren ; 4 step grandchildren; 11step great grandchildren ; 19 great great grandchildren ; A brother Ezra Sanders JR of Batesville, Arz ; Brotherinlaw , LaMar Mathews of Granger , Ind ; sister in laws , Mary Modert of Bronson , and Gila Mathews of Frostproof , Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents ; Husband and Infant son Daniel Bryon Mathews ; brothers; Bert , Omer and Roy Sanders ; Sisters; Pauline Ernsberger , Wanda Yoder, and Thelma Olmstead And a grandson Gerald Frank Selders ; and one great Grandson Kurtis McNees. The Family will receive friends and relatives from 5-8 p.m. Today and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church , 32969 Custer Rd , BurrOak. Funeral services celebrating Mary's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs at the church with Rev Clint Zehr , officiating Burial will follow at Adams Cemetery
