Bio
Margie W. Hill, 88, of Hubbard, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco in the presence of her family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, at Wade Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Margie Ruth was born in Whitney, Texas, to the late Barney and Lorisia Brown Williams. Whitney is where she lived and married Leonard Hill Sr. in 1944. For over 30 years, Margie worked full-time as a cook in the cafeteria at Dawson ISD. Unfortunately, her health left her with a very challenging decision to retire at 86 years old. The students of Dawson ISD called her "Granny" and could always count on her adding extra salt and sugar to everything, making it some of the best food they had ever tasted. Granny's front door always stayed open and there was always plenty of food on the stove for anyone that was hungry. Sunday lunch at Granny's house is a tradition the family plans to carry on. Of course, no one will ever be able to make Granny's sweet tea or well-known cornbread and there won't be anyone to rock the grandbabies to sleep quite like Granny did. There won't be anyone to sew up a hole in jeans quicker than Granny could or anyone to crochet the softest baby blanket for every new addition. Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years in 2000; brothers Joe and John Williams; and a grandson, Del Thrash in 1993. Margie is survived by her daughters, Brenda Hill Thrash, of Hubbard, and Glenda Hill Chasteen and husband, Pete, of Dawson; son, Leonard Hill Jr. and wife, Patty, of Dawson; grandchildren: Stephanie Thrash McGee, Courtney Thrash Tucker, Robyn Thrash Eitel, Kristi Chasteen, Heath Chasteen, Josh Hill, Jared Hill, Jacob Hill, Joanna Hill Johnson, Jordan Hill and Jackie Hill;. great-grandchildren: Drew McGee, Erin McGee Mashburn, Maggie McGee, Michael Del Tucker, Carter Eitel, Carson Eitel, Slade Chasteen, Parker Henthorn, Triston Hill, Landon Hill, Jaycie Hill, Jackson Hill, Tattum Hill, and Ayden Johnson; and great-great-grandchildren, are Adalynn Mashburn and Bryce McGee; brothers, Don Williams and wife, Susan, of Texarkana, and Daniel Williams, of Bossier City, Louisiana; other relatives and many friends.
