Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Wednesday, March 1, 2000, Page 8A, Columns 3 & 4 Wilma Vodehnal – Grand Island Resident, 81 Wilma A. Vodehnal, 81 of Grand Island died Feb. 26, 2000 at Skilled Care in the St. Francis Memorial Health Center of Grand Island. Funeral services were March 1 at 10 am at the St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island with the Rev. Tom Ryan officiating. Burial was in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mrs. Vodehnal was born May 29, 1918 to Edwin and Anna (Whitcomb) Kluge at Ravenna. She grew up and received her education in Buffalo and Hall counties. On Feb. 10, 1947 she married Paul P. Vodehnal at Smith Center, KS. The couple resided in the Grand Island area where she was employed by the Wolbach, Woolworth and Sears department stores as a sales lady. She retired from Sears in 1961 due to ill health. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Catholic Daughters, the Legion of Mary, Christian Mothers and the VFW and Eagles Auxiliaries. Survivors include her husband, Paul Vodehnal of Grand Island; a son, Vernon Vodehnal, also of Grand Island; two grandchildren; and a brother, Merlin Kluge of Grand Island.
