Charles ‘Charlie' Trojan, 92, of Omaha died Thursday, March 27, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17th and Center streets in Omaha. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 1. Bethany Funeral Home, 8201 Harrison St. in La Vista is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Trojan was born Nov. 3, 1921, at Sargent, in Custer County, to Joseph and Carolina (Kriz) Trojan. He served in World War II from February 1943 to November 1945 and saw combat in the Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley campaigns. Charlie married Marie A. Masek on Feb. 3, 1952, in Papillion. They had one son, Gregory Charles. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife and son; brothers Otto, Joseph Jr., Edward, Emil, Leonard and Frank; and sisters Camilla Pavel and Helen at birth. Survivors include a sister, Minnie Krul of Angora; a brother, Eldon Trojan of Comstock; and a daughter-in-law, Roslyn Trojan of Colorado Springs, Colo. Charlie is much loved and missed by all his nieces and nephews of the Trojan and Masek families and his many friends. The Trojan family is particularly grateful to his longtime friend, Gloria Prchal, and her family for the many kindnesses and support shown to Charles in his later years.
