Bio

Irene Segers, 98, died Oct. 23, 2006. She was born May 9, 1908, in Wood County to Henry and Maude (Pouge) Howle. Mrs. Segers lived in Mesquite for 48 years and was a member of Overton Road Baptist Church in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Bryant of Dallas and Sarah Bearden of Rockwall; a son, George Segers of New Orleans, La.; brother Kyle Howle of Winnsboro; a sister, Mozelle Stamps of Mesquite; six grandchildren, Velvet, Paula, Rick, Stephanie, Leslie and Bill; 11 great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Donny, Kalleigh, Alexis, Austin, Michael, Hunter, Victoria, Buck, Major and Kaufman; and one great-great grandchild, Tanner. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Segers, on Jan. 4, 1990; her parents; and one brother, Arnold. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall chapel with Dr. Aubrey Patterson officiating. Interment followed at 3:30 p.m. in Rock Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Grove.
