Bio

Ernest Derboven 1930 - 2014 Ernest Derboven, 84, of Boonville, MO, formerly of Moberly, died Monday, March 31, 2014. Ernest was born January 11, 1930 in Huntsville, MO, to Joseph and Ella Mae (Spicer) Derboven. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; receiving an honorable discharge in 1959. Prior to retirement he worked for the Missouri Highway Department. Ernest married Ruby E. Moore on December 23, 1950, and she preceded him in death. He then married Connie Purdum on June 10, 1989, and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Aeisha Derboven, and a sister Mary Ann Wilson. Survivors include his children Joe Derboven and his wife Nancy; Ernie Derboven and his wife JoAnn all of Huntsville; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law Bob Wilson of Sturgeon, other relatives and friends. Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation which will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring Ernest's life will be Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel with committal prayers, military honors, and burial following in the Oakland Cemetery.
