Bio

Elfie Srubar, 86, of Abbott, passed away early Sunday morning, December 4, 2005 at Lakeshore Village in Waco. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the West Brethren Church with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Elfie was born in Abbott, Texas, to the late Frank and Albina (Hejl) Mikeska. She attended Treadwell and Abbott schools, where she participated on the basketball teams and graduated from Abbott High School in 1938. Elfie was united in marriage to Albert E. Srubar on April 12, 1948, in Abbott. She was a homemaker and a seamstress, working for Rose Marie Mfg. in Hillsboro for over 15 years before retiring in 1983. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and especialy enjoyed the beauty of nature. Elfie was a member of West Brethren Church, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #54, and R.V.O.S. Lodge No. 78. Elfie was a kind and caring person and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 21, 1983; brothers, Eddie and Robert Mikeska; and sisters, Marian Adamek, Geraldine Brezina and Elsie Kucera. Survivors include son, Albert Srubar, Jr., of West; daughters, Barbara Olsovsky and husband, Albert, of West, Helen Kubala and husband, Edward, Irene Srubar and Anna Srubar, all of Abbott; granddaughtes, Amanda Kubala and Wendy Kubala, both of Abbott; brother, George Mikeska and wife, Frankye Mae, of Abbott; sisters, Ruby Kucera, of Ingleside and Bessie Surovik and husband, Daniel, of Brenham; sister-in-law, Rosemary Srubar, of West; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
