Verda Kay Elrod, 65, of Aubrey, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Denton Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Elrod was born on January 5, 1949 in Amarillo, TX to Walter and Pearl (Trail) Hudson. She was married to Harold Dale Elrod on November 12, 1965 in Denton (he died on December 8, 1991). She was retired from Target as a Food Service Supervisor. She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Elrod of Euless, and son Phillip Elrod of Burleson. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Elrod. Surviving also is a sister Debbie Brown of Chico, brothers, Jerry Hudson, of Weatherford, Tracy Hudson of Arlington, and Ward Hudson of Glen Rose, and grandchildren, Kelsey, Kacey, Ashley, Haylee, Makayla, Garrett, and Braden. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 31, 2014 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Rev. Ward Hudson will officiate the services.
