Bio

Ernest E. Ziola, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Howard County Medical Center, St. Paul, Nebraska. Ernest was born on November 9, 1927, at Loup City, Nebraska the son of Louis Alozoius "Louie" and Regina Rosalia (Grudzinski) Ziola. Ernest was united in marriage to Delores Wroblewski on October 16, 1950, at Loup City, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on October 23, 1990. Ernest grew up on the family farm north of Loup City, Nebraska where he attended Sherman County, Nebraska rural schools. Upon completing his education he farmed with his father. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from Jan. 1951 until Nov. 1952. Ernest and Delores farmed northeast of Loup City, Nebraska. The couple moved to Idaho in 1957 and moved back to Loup City, Nebraska in 1961. In 1963, they moved to a farm northeast of Ashton, Nebraska. Over the years Ernest worked for Missouri Valley in road and bridge construction and later for the Howard County, Nebraska roads department. In 1986, he began working as a custodian for Rose Lane Home, Loup City, Nebraska and later for Heritage Living Center, St. Paul, Nebraskawhere he worked until his retirement. Ernest was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul, Nebraska and was a former member and trustee of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Paplin, Nebraska. Ernest loved polka music and time spent with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: parents; daughter, Diane Marie Ziola; sister, Tina Gappa and brother, Benny Ziola. Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul, Nebraska. The Rev. Ray Kosmicki as officiator. Burial was in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Paplin, Nebraska with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul, Nebraska.
