daughter of William Daniel and Sarah Augusta "Gussie" Bullard Chumney wife of William Avery Abel From The Hamilton Herald - News, March 13, 1969: Mrs. William A. (Amy) Abel, 56 of 321 South Iowa, League City, died Wednesday, March 5, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8 at Jack H. Rowe Funeral Home Chapel, League City, with Rev. Elvin Gibson, pastor of Texas Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. She was born Sept. 14, 1912, at Hamilton, and was the daughter of the late W. D. and Sarah Augusta Chumney. She had been census taker for Clear Creek Independent School District. A resident and life member of the Clear Creek PTA, she served as election judge and clerk in county, school, and city elections. Mrs. Abel was a resident of League City for the past 26 years and was a member of Texas Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; one son, Kenneth Abel of League City; two brothers, W. W. and Roy Chumney, both of Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Parks and Mrs. Faye Thornton, both of Hamilton, and Mrs. Eva Rainwater, of Hico; and three grandchildren.
