Bio

Services for Selma Martha Klesel, 89, of Lubbock and formerly of Southland will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl Schwinck officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Southland under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. She died Saturday, March 2, 2002. She was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Bartlett and had moved to the Southland area in 1924. She attended school in Bartlett and the Morgan schools. She married Herman Klesel on Aug. 12, 1937. He died in 1960. She moved to Lubbock in 1999. She was a homemaker and had been active in farming from 1960 until 1999. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Slaton. Survivors include a son, Glenn of Lorenzo; two daughters, Beatrice McInturff of Virginia Beach, Va., and Judy Ratto of Elgin; four sisters, Dora Noack of Bartlett, Marie Klesel of Lubbock, Emma Maeker of Slaton and Edna Carlson of Granger; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Grace Lutheran Church, 840 W. Jean St., Slaton, TX 79364; or to a favorite charity.
